Carmen Loderus (Sharanya) will assess your constitution and current state of imbalance and doshas (vikruti) and create a personalized health plan aimed at improving your overall health and well-being. Recommendations may include proper diet, gradual lifestyle changes, herbs , cleansing and rejuvenating therapies to help balance the body, mind and spirit.

AYURVEDIC THERAPIES AND TREATMENTS
SHIRODHARA – Mental rejuvenation
A profoundly relaxing treatment in which a steady soothing stream of herbalized warm oil is poured across the forehead. It pacifies the subtle aspects of all the doshas, especially Vata, nourishes the nervous system, promotes relaxation and tranquility, and improves clarity, comprehension, and problems with insomnia. When done in a series, it can help with certain neurological and mental imbalances. Shirodhara strengthens sensory organs, reduces stress and has a profound effect upon the consciousness.

UDVARTAN – Herbal body rub
A vigorous application of a warm herbal paste, which stimulates the underlying tissues and Kapha dosha. Helpful for weight reduction and clearing the channels. (Given as part of Snehan (Abhyanga) and Svedana (steam therapy.)

LEPA – Herbal medicinal plaster
A special application of a warm or cool herbal paste applied to an area of the body to help reduce joint pain, swelling or inflammation.

SHIRO VIRECHAN - Nasya Karma
A treatment to cleanse and open the channels of the head to remove excess Kapha, cogestion and mucus. A warm medicated oil is massaged to the head, face, and neck, followed by steam therapy. Medicated oil or powder is then administered through the nostrils. Helps with sinus congestion, sinusitis, allergies, headaches, foggy mind and more. Performed in a series of 3, 5 or 7 days if recommended after an Ayurvedic consultation.

ABHYANGA SNEHAN and SWEDANA - Herbal oil massage and steam
In this therapy warm medicated herbal oils are used for a whole body massage to help pacify predominantly Vata Dosha. Ayurvedic Snehan massage relieves muscle tightness, tension, pain and deeply relaxes the nervous system. This is followed by a steam therapy.

PINDA SWEDANA – Rice and herb bolus treatment
This treatment is performed after Abhyanga Snehan massage and consists of massaging medicated herbal boluses of rice and milk over the entire body. It improves blood circulation, muscle tone, strengthens the body and restores vigor. It is traditionally used for many neurological disorders, nourishes tissues and promotes vitality and longevity.

SHIROTARPANA – Head treatment
In this treatment warm medicated herbal oil is soothingly massaged into the head and scalp area. Then a face, neck and shoulder massage is given followed by a light steam and warm herbal decocotion that helps release tension held in the head. Helps with hair loss, premature graying of the hair, headaches, stress and insomnia.

NETRA BASTI – Eye rejuvenation
A nourishing and rejuvenating therapy for the eyes. It is a special treatment in which the eyes are bathed in pure ghee. It is performed by filling a 'dam' (made out of wheat dough and placed around the eyes) with soothing ghee. Netra Basti helps relieve eyestrain (esp. from computer screens), improves vision, pacifies problems due to Vata and Pitta such as dry or burning eyes and other eye ailments.

KATI BASTI – Lumbo-Sacral rejuvenation
This is a localized treatment for relieving and nourishing the lower back. After snehan massage, the lumbo sacral area is saturated in a 'dam' of specially prepared herbal oil. This therapy helps to relieve the discomfort of nervous and muscular aches and pains. It pacifies one of the primary sites of Vata, nourishes displaced discs, relieving pain, soreness and tension in that area.

MANYA BASTI – Cervical rejuvenation
A similar treatment to Kati Basti, but Manya Basti focuses on the cervical and neck area.

HRUD URO BASTI – Heart support
Focusing on the region of the heart (hrdaya), this area is bathed in a 'dam' of lukewarm medicated oil. Unresolved emotions and psychic tensions are then allowed to be calmly released, restoring strength and nourishment to the heart area.
